The only Heat Pumps designed specifically to cope with the most varied humid temperate climatic conditions and geology in Europe.

Ground Source or Air Source Heat Pump?

Both types of heat pumps have their advantages so choosing the right system is critical as is the design and specification.

For Ground source units a Geological survey is vitally important before any decisions are made.

Whichever system is selected it is also critical that heat loss calculations are carried out and the heat pump sized based upon historic meteorological data and Seasonal Performance Factors (SPF).

SPF is the ratio of useful energy output of a device to the energy input, averaged over an entire heating season and allows for variation in performance of heat pump over heating season at various in operating conditions. It is a better measure of performance than an instantaneous COP (Co-Efficient of Performance) and allows for defrost in Air Source Heat Pumps.

Benefits of Heat Pumps:
  • Heat pumps and electric systems will last over 20 years
  • Gas and oil boilers require an annual service
  • Condensing gas and oil boilers are typically replaced after 10 years
Generally:
  • No servicing is required for heat pumps
  • No oil tank or LPG cylinder, No Flues
  • No gas supply to site required
  • No specialist gas or oil installation skills required
  • Monovalent heat pump will supply 100% of space and DHW
How Domestic Heat Pumps Work

Heat Pumps work on the principle of extracting low-grade energy which is available in vast amounts in the air and ground around us, and then upgrading this energy into useable high-grade energy for the home. This extremely efficient technology has a proven track record, is environmentally friendly and exceptionally economical to run.

The award winning range of heat pumps from Calorex has been designed specifically to cope with the most demanding conditions in Europe.

Cutting Fuel Costs

With ever increasing energy costs efficiency and economy is on every agenda. Calorex Heat Pumps provide a significant hedge against these consistent increases and volatile spikes in oil and gas prices.

For every 4kW of energy required in the home only 1kW of energy is required to run the heat pump. In this example the heat pump would have a rated efficiency of 400% when space heating.  A gas boiler is around 85% efficient!

In addition to these cost savings there are often no annual maintenance or service costs to budget for as they are generally not required (unlike a gas heating system).

Calorex domestic heat pumps are unique in that they deliver 65ºC direct into the hot water cylinder more economically than any other manufacturer saving on running costs and carbon emissions.

All of the dwelling space heating and domestic hot water requirements are provided for by the heat pump without the use of expensive electrical resistance heating (immersion heater) back up.

Carbon Savings

Calorex Heat Pumps maximise the freely available energy which is available everywhere and this energy is totally renewable and sustainable. As there are no emissions from heat pump systems, no flues are required and there is no pluming or local pollution from the installation property. The cumbersome inconvenience and cost of fuel storage as with Oil, LPG and solid fuel is also removed.
